Cardiac magnetic resonance in cardiac amyloidosis

Chapter 6

Over the last 20 years, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has gained a very important role in the diagnosis of patients with cardiac diseases, given its unique capability of tissue characterization. In this chapter, we will discuss the role of cardiac MRI for the diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis, with a critical focus 1) on the clinical indications in which cardiac MRI can be considered appropriate, 2) on classical morpho-functional and gadolinium-based findings and 3) the role of mapping techniques, such as native T1, T2 and extracellular volume assessment.
